I saw a wolf once. Just outside Rocky Mountain National Park, trotting across a meadow. Everyone I tell that to says it must have been a dog. Because we know about all the giant loping dogs hanging out in the woods.

It was a wolf.

Tell me about your cool wildlife sightings, disputed or otherwise. No animal is too mundane, I love them all.

Oh my gosh. I loved everyone’s stories! I got another one to add from right here in the city, tonight.

I was driving to Walgreens to buy lip gloss and ice cream, as you do, and I saw two huge birds land on a streetlight. I could only clearly see one and I swear it was an owl. I’ve seen them in our neighborhood before but never two. (I thought owls were solitary but I really don’t know much about owls and could be completely wrong.) I wasn’t the only person who saw them, unlike my wolf. Someone was walking their dog and stopped to stare just like me.

Maybe that’s where all the loose chihuahuas have gone.

I was walking home via the back alley– yeah, ok, kinda stupid but whatever– and I saw something by the trashcans. It was big, too big to be a rat, and kinda fluffy. Could it be my neighbor’s Pomeranian? Wait.. are those HANDS??

It was a raccoon eating trash. With it’s little freaky hands.
