Currently Reading: Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero! I just finished When I Am Through With You this morning, and it gutted me in the best kind of way. I’m definitely a fan of Stephanie Kuehn now, guys! Yay for brand new authors! Now on down the library stack, I go! I’m about forty pages into this, and I’m already loving it. Think Supernatural mashed with Scooby Doo and a ton of pop culture references and humor, and you’ve got something close to Meddling Kids. Plus, anything that’s an homage to one of my favorite childhood cartoons, and I’m all over it. Shout out to one of my libraries hooking me up, and Val, it’s so good so far, I can’t wait for you to read it! What are you guys currently reading this weekend?

Currently Reading: Miles Morales: Spiderman by Jason Reynolds! I just finished Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh, and I loved it. Definitely one of my favorite books of the year! I mean, Mulan set in feudal Japan? My little tiny girl self has been waiting for this my whole life. I can’t wait for the sequel! Now, on down the library stack, I go! @mrfidler picked this one for me, and I’m not even a chapter in. I love it so far. Plus, a diverse character for a hero like Spiderman? Yes, yes, please sign me up forever. What are you guys currently reading this weekend?

(Not my photo!) Currently Reading: Everyone We’ve Been by Sarah Everett! This is my book club’s pick for August, and to be honest, I’m not really sure that I’m feeling it. I love that the main character is a POC and a musician, but the writing style is weird and the plot is strange? I don’t know, maybe I’m in a reading slump? I’m not sure, but I guess we’ll see. Book club is on Thursday, and I’m hoping to finish it by then. What are you guys currently reading this week?

Currently Reading: Daughter of the Burning City by @amandafoody! I just finished The Disappearances yesterday, and I really enjoyed it! It was beautifully written, dark and creepy, in a way that reminded me a lot of Stephen King in the early days. What a lovely, compelling debut! Plus, I loved the way that Shakespeare was tied into the plot. Major literary points for Shakespeare references. Now on down the library stack I go. I ordered this because it was a recommended book of July, and just look at that cover! Magic! Mysterious forces! A family of misfits! What could go wrong? I was so tired last night I could only manage to read the first chapter, so I’ll probably just have to hold off until next week. What are you guys currently reading this week?
